My father, Mr Samuel Adeniran Awoniyi, passed to the great beyond on 10th of May, 2010 at the age of 98. He lived and worked as a lumberjack or rock blaster in many parts of the South Western Nigeria before he retired to our home town, Iresi, in Boluwaduro local Government Area of Osun State where he passed on peacefully during a bout of misdiagnosed typhoid fever.
He was a very strong, vocal, hardworking, caring and conscientious father. He did his best to protect his children and indeed, community against ignorance, oppression, poverty and socio-moral and cultural encumbrances. He was the first professional rock blaster in the Osun Division of the old Western state of Nigeria.
His passage rites will begin on Friday, August 20 and end with interment and social reception on Saturday, August 21, 2010.
Dear friend and mentor, you are one of those who will make me proud that it worths it belonging and functioning within our socio-political and ideological collectives. I therefore have no reservation whatsoever in inviting you to honour me, one of your friends and comrade, during this funeral outings. I am sure you will not disappoint me.
